Administrative Pastor Sheila Preston, who is best known by her title of Minister Sheila, has been a foundational fixture of Valencia Christian Center (VCC) since the very beginning of its inception.
She has served in various capacities of leadership throughout the years as Outreach Director and Events Director and in addition, has supported the Children’s ministry, Women’s ministry and Pastoral Care with a short time as church secretary. Her passion and dedication to serving has always been a driving force towards supporting those inside and outside of the ministry who may be in need. This focus lead her to start our annual Back to School Drives, Feed A Family for Thanksgiving Campaign and Season of Sharing Christmas Campaign. Over the first ten years of VCC’s existence through these campaigns we have partnered with a number of nonprofits like Child & Family, Single Mother’s Outreach, Senior Center and some battered women’s shelters. Through the back to school efforts we have given supplies to hundreds of children in our church and local communities. We also gave full Thanksgiving Meals to hundreds participating with these nonprofits and even had our own food bank for two years to support anyone in need. Of all of these initiatives that she coordinated each year the one that was most memorable was Season of Sharing 2015, when through the donations of our VCC members and our local Walmart we were able to give over 150 bikes to children of the church and throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. She continues to focus on these types of initiatives working alongside all of the ministries of VCC as the Administrative Pastor.
Minister Sheila’s education includes entering the University of New Orleans at age 16 and progressing until her junior year when she decided to totally focus on her retail career. She has worked since she was 13, so she has learned from the school of experience. Her role as Regional Operations Manager of three states while working with Target Corporation, Regional Manager of over 120 stores with Blockbuster and her many District and General Manager roles in large companies has prepared her to support VCC with both its human resource, training and development and operational initiatives that have been put in place to support our growth. During her time with Target Corporation, she decided to go back to school to complete her Business Administration credentials at College of the Canyons. She attended two separate Ministry curriculum at VCC and ordained as a Minister in 2010.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, raised there and in Kansas City Missouri, she is the first of two, she has a brother and his family who live in Orange County. The proud parent of Stephen Tureaud who passed in 2009, this was the first experience that the church had dealing with death and a member of the congregation. Minister Sheila leverages this experience to assist those who have experienced loss who attend VCC and to set a standard of how we at VCC should respond in these unfortunate circumstances. She also has two daughters, Shayla Preston and Sasha Preston who she continues to try and be an example to show life as a Christian is rewarding and fun.
