Pastor Jay Stepter –
Elder and Teaching Pastor/Couples Ministry
Faithful, consistent, and diligent are just a few words to describe Jay Stepter, Elder and Teaching Pastor, at Valencia Christian Center. Pastor Jay has a passion for God’s Word and God’s people. For over three decades Pastor Jay has served in various roles of ministry. As a bi-vocational minister, Pastor Jay has proven himself to be steadfast, reliable, and able to be counted on, all while maintaining his professional career in the marketplace. He has supported the vision of Valencia Christian Center since its inception, and currently serves on the Elders Board, and as Teaching Pastor. He also serves along-side his wife in facilitating Couple’s Ministry. He is a valued member of the senior leadership team, supporting the practical and operational duties of the ministry at the request and direction of the senior pastor.
In addition to his current roles, Pastor Jay has served faithfully in overall ministry, operational support, and congregational care. He has served as Director of Men’s Ministry, Associate Pastor, Sunday and Mid-week Service Coordinator, Facilities Coordinator, Prayer Ministry, Mid-Week Bible Teacher, Logistics, Children’s Ministry Support, Marketing and Media Ministry liaison, and Congregational Care. Pastor Jay has been honored and blessed to support the ministry through baptisms, marriages, offering last rites to families of VCC members, and praying and visiting the sick to foster healing and goodwill. An additional highlight included Pastor Jay lending his time to our youth as the head coach of the VCC Championship Basketball teams, in addition to coordinating practices, referees, and additional coaches comprised of our VCC fathers.
Personal Involvements that Support Current Roles at VCC
Pastor Jay has a passion for healing and deliverance. He is an avid proponent of teaching God’s people about Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, and HIS ability to transform lives. He was ordained as an Elder by the Presiding Bishop of the United Council of Christian Churches, going on to help sustain a 50-year-old church in transition.
Through the years, he has shared God’s Word in Prison Ministry, prayed with people via Prayer Call Centers, served as an appointed Deacon, led lead National Prayer Calls, taught Bible Study as part of yearly programming for national faith-based nonprofits, and conducted evangelistic trainings for interpreter led multi-lingual congregations. Faith in Jesus Christ has always been a part of his family’s DNA.
Additionally, Pastor Jay has served on the Board of Managers for the YMCA, given the invocation for several faith-based nonprofit Capital Campaign events and served as Member Engagement Chair for strengthening families.
As a bi-vocational minister, Pastor Jay has remained committed to professional and ministerial development through academia. He attended Bible College and School of Ministry at Heritage Christian Center under the late Bishop Dennis Leonard in Denver Colorado. He holds dual graduate degrees from Grand Canyon University in Business Administration (MBA), and Leadership (MSL), in addition to an undergraduate degree in Business Management (BSM). Pastor Jay is currently completing a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Grand Canyon University, School of Doctoral Studies, with an emphasis in Management.
Raised in a military family, he was born in Fort Lenard Wood, Missouri. He then lived in various parts of the country before settling in Denver, Colorado, where his family of origin would eventually call home. These days Pastor Jay is a marriage and family champion! He has been married to his lovely wife, Tosca Stepter for nearly 19 years, and together they have three amazing children.
